Here it is. I didn't use your estimate for the installation cost. Instead as I deduced the cost for Enphase is $1500 to install one battery (see cost to install first 2.4kWh vs additional 1.2 kWh in first chart) I used $5000 being over 3 times the cost of Enphase. My justification is that though the BYD battery is much larger and heavier, the amount of work for electrical connection should be similar. Also one would not expect that a battery that costs $12,900 would cost $15,000 to install. Instead I suspect that the $5000 figure is also a gross overestimate. Perhaps some expert here can inform us.
The result is absolutely fantastic. The rate of return increases from 17% to 22% pa. Any super fund would be happy with that. (I hope there are no errors in my calcs)
Over time this will only get better.
BTW - so as not to frighten all the owners in my apartment block there is no need to install all this in one go - maybe 25% at a time over the years. It'll take up to 10 years before all this is needed. Right now we have only 2 EVs on trickle charge.
