It surely is a conundrum but you you can rest assured that human nature will take as much rope as possible to make extra profit.
In my opinion to steal one cent or a steal a million dollars makes no difference- it is still theft.
As many say, it makes little difference to the long term holder except where someone tries to takeover the company real cheap.
We need volatility so we are stuck with shorting so just live with it.
But who controls where shorting stops and manipulation starts?...
