noob born every day. the greedy noob wants to make money quick. margin loans up to 90% of stock value. Who are they borrowing that 90% from? The same companies that then wipe them out.
comsec gives you to next business day on a call. all the margin loans are correlated and that information is traded/sold.
What better way to pick up shares at a discount.
If the noobs stopped borrowing the drops would not be as significant.
Met a few in my time that have lost millions, usually wiped out 12 months after an inheritance. it is weird that I have not met anyone who has made millions using margin loans.
Add to that the 3 day settlement play money the brokers give you where you can double your investment cash when you sell until settlement date. They then pick up a double whammy when you sell that 2-3 day loan.
Must be a magic percentage of shares out on margin loans to the retail investor to trigger this, wish I was privy to that info.
The swings are outrageous.
