Shorting is not illegal, its the way the short selling is often conducted that's illegal. There's so many examples I could provide, its not funny.
I'm aware of the Hindenburg report on Adani, but cant really comment as I haven't been following. Though, Hindenburg have put forward some serious allegations.
Note that Hindenburg have put out short reports on 2 lithium projects over the past 18 months or so, both DLE hopefuls. Wrt PLS, as each quarter passes, it will become harder to make a gain from shorting the company, but I reckon they'll still try.
