The Adani story is a bit different. The company was acting fraudulently. You could suggest Hindenburg actually deserve some praise for exposing it (that being said, it was clearly self-serving). Their share price plummeted not just because they were shorted, but also because the market was alerted to their behaviours and decided they should sell out. The reason the story is being tied to shorting so much, is because they were exposed by a company with a large short position.
End of the day, you can't short a good company forever and continue to hold the price down. If you're in for the long term, it won't matter - ergo I'm not concerned for PLS
