What every country should do is give a very generous subsidy to buyers of EVs to accelerate demand with a goal of achieving a circular lithium economy if they want to get ahead of everyone else. China has been giving these subsidies for a while and they probably feel they are ahead of everyone else when it comes to achieving circular economy. Look how smart china look now, how cheap did they buy the lithium 5-10 years ago that's in their cars now that can be recycled over and over again.
