Yep, not a good look for CATL, particularly from PLSs' view, a customer jawbonning the price of the product we sell to them, therefore a risk, and it would be quite reasonable if PLS asks them to take a walk. With these shananagins, I'm so glad PLS had the foresight to diversify customers, the timing of tonnes being ship to South Korea this year is pretty good, its a big chunk of PLS's spod production heading to Chinese competitors.
The big picture - There's plenty of lithium deals happening across the world, offtakes, equity contributions to secure offtakes, M&A, etc, for which the bulk of China state actors are being blocked from participating. CATL have missed out on, or been out bid on a few aquistions over the past 18 or so months, its just not going China's way, the pressure is on. This conjestion would be affecting short and long term planning, expansion decissions, etc.
