Why cheap electric cars matter
As the name suggests, electric vehicles run (at least in part) onelectricity. Instead of having an ICE, they are powered by electric motors forpropulsion. The motor derives energy from rechargeable batteries (typically lithiumbatteries).
As well as being two tofour times more efficient than ICE engine models, electric vehicles can reducethe world’s reliance on oil-based fuels and can deliver significant reductionsin greenhouse gas emissions. Plus, they are well suited to solve air pollutionissues, a global health problem, and can drive advances in battery technology.
