"According to the latest ASIC data, takeover target Liontown Resources had 195.9 million shares shorted on March 21 to mean short sellers are wearing paper losses of $174 million on the bid as the stock price surged 54 per cent or 89 cents this morning.
The price spike and short seller pain comes after Albemarle lobbed a $2.35 per share takeover bid for Liontown on Tuesday morning.
Core Lithium and Sayona Mining are also among other heavily shorted ASX lithium juniors spiking today as traders potentially close positions at a loss or profit."
