MP1 is the most shorted stock on the ASX at just over 10% sold short. Nothing even comes close to 20%.
I'm assuming with 20% you mean 20% of shares traded on a single day was short sales. Net over the past few months though there has not been much change. Total shorts haven't been higher than 5% since last July at any point.
Trade on a single day 3 weeks ago has little long term effect because it could only move the share price on that day. The shorts have to be bought back also at some point. So has a potential up and down effect on the share price.
