my understanding is that in our case the heating is done outside the part holding the spodumene ie it is a double wall retort and all heating is done by radiant heat from the outside part of the vessel not directly on the spodumene stream
there are descriptions about possible product build up on the internal wall of the vessel
I’m not really sure but that’s my understanding
