Early days yet, Mow, but I recall likening Poo-tin in an earlier post at the start of the war to the ultimate demise of Tzar Nicholas 11 during the 1st WW - in that the Russians would eventually revolt if Poo-tin proved to be an incompetent military strategist and caused too many Russian deaths. That scenario seems to have come to pass, and the Wagner Groups actions may just precipitate a Russian military and citizen revolt, which may end the war. So, my guess is that if the situation escalates to an internal conflict and Poo-tin is deposed, then we could see some short-term market volatility shock, followed by a resumption of bullish sentiment if the war against the Ukraine ends. Caveats being: who ends up in control of the nuclear button and what will they do with it, given Wagner are despots in waiting - and how will Poo-tin react if he sees his power under threat.
In any case, it will be interesting to see how the market reacts, given all the unknown consequences.
