I have taken only 5 minutes with this so anyone please feel free to correct me but after a few Google searches it appears the electric VW is more expensive than a Tesla. Perhaps in the mind of the average punter (I won't pretend like I am anything more than an average punter either!), something like Tesla might be more synonymous with electric vehicles so seeing you can pick up a Tesla cheaper might be more appealing for many.
I suppose what I'm saying is perhaps with those keen to explore an EV, the demand for typical VW drivers is shifting elsewhere?
