Windrider, I don't think anyone would disagree with your statements. The government mandates overseas have driven EV adoption, not consumer sentiment.
A purely EV world will punish the poor and vulnerable, who are unable to afford the exorbitant cost of an EV, even on the second hand market. And who rent small apartments with no off street parking. If hefty taxation on remaining ICEs is introduced, they'll likely not be able to afford those either.
Imagine you've just got an entry level job, you scraped together enough rubles to buy a Carolla for $4k. It costs you $60 to fill the tank which lasts two weeks. Or you're trying to escape a domestic violence situation and you can't just jump in you POS Hyundai Getz and go, but have to sit at the charging station down the road for 20 minutes. Or you're a first year plumbing apprentice (or any tradesman) that's just got an old hilux that you park out on the street.
The message from the EV extremists to these people is "stiff sh*t you loser dinosaurs".
