Some Short Analyses

downloaded CSV YTD data from ASIC on short positions and downloaded YTD Share Price & traded Volume data from Yahoo finance and just charted over time

bit make shift but can't spot a significant relationship between shorts and share price - did see recent uptick in short positions but doesn't look like short trades filled most volume

- I tried to chart "change in Shorts open" (Current day less prior day Open Short volume) to infer what their intra-day transaction volume that would have been and try see what component of daily traded volume shorters made up - compare light blue to light orange

- I do question the data though bc change in short position from day before eclipses transacted volume which in my head can't work bc only way to build or exit the position is through trading (which would then be included in volume) so all the analyses may be cooked but I got the data from elsewhere so in this case I say "It wasn't me" - plug Shaggy on Spotify the goat

March volume was incurred by CATL exit I believe




All in all there is an elevated short position YTD but it doesn't look like they are majority of volume being transacted

- doesn't feel nice though when AKE only has a 0.70% short position haha - might just be the pair fund managers pick to short reduce Li exposure because they expect AKE to outperform.
