I think its the big players hedging a long position, they can afford to and often react at the start of any swing up or down that retail then grabs on to. Sure they may lose a few dollars closing out positions but that is offset/mitigated by the gains of any long holding they have. I still think 12% seems high but these players have deep pockets. Thats my thinking.
