I have been thinking along exactly the same lines moowee.
This is a new industry but hell it's hard to get reliable up to date information. I read and listen to any podcast etc that I believe delivers some form of good gen on Lithium. I was amazed to hear one "expert" say he was blindsided by the fact that lithium was coming out of Africa now (can't remember his exact words, - caught unawares?). This from people that have been spending most of their waking hours commentating and reporting on the lithium industry. Surely these mines didn't just crank up over the last couple of weeks?

The more I think about it, the stranger it seems. Is this period of uncertainty just a collision of a lot of factors at the same time? Would love to believe we are fast approaching the bottom of this cycle; can't really see how we can't be when all the known factors are considered, including Africa at 5% of supply. Maybe just some capitulation to get through? As for China, well, their electrification of everything appears to still be happening from what I can gather, and the rest of the world will surely follow on.
