Another little hurdle for the crowd that think DLE Lithium from old oil wells is imminent.
I doubt oil wells will ever produce lithium. The oil (even in small amounts) will probably mess up adsorption, membranes, and most other DLE techniques. Crude oil is corrosive, sticky, and a general pain to deal with. DLE pipes have a lot of surface area for the oil to stick to
