Not correct. The demand is strong. It was always an issue with supply, namely $80/kg panic Chinese buying allowing all kind of high-cost curve sources to come online. Price back to more normal levels now which is shutting down some of the high-end producers like low-grade lepidolite.
In reality, EV cells deployed (GWh) is up 50% YOY in 2023. That translated directly to chemical demand with lots of destocking having occurred. Chinese EV sales are up 36% YOY in the first half of 23 while battery sizes are up 10%.
