It was the US and Australia, notably since Trump, that became aggressive towards China and the tone of our Gvt and media was that of a white overlord screeching how dare you not know your place. The US has caused more wars, that have killed and displaced tens of millions since world war two, then all other countries combined. It has replaced democratically secular leaders in South America and the Middle East with fascists and like minded despots, unleashing misery for locals. It has not even bothered to sign up to major UN treaties that it uses to accuse others of breaching. Its actions directly led to the growth of extremism and the refugee issue and the demonisation of these refugees is ironic. The Huawei fiasco was hysteria and truths ignored as the US panicked about tech supremacy. The US itself has a terrible human rights record with the greatest per capita of imprisoned people then any other first or second world nation country and I could go on re other things on this. Its Congress is in crisis mode. China finally reacted after being savaged. Every single power needs to continue its growth and China has yet to do even a tiny bit of what the US did in getting to where it is . Whether forcibly putting in military bases or dominating the world with the huge unfair advantage of global currency being linked to the dollar. It has breached countless international agreements and totally ignores the human rights breached of its allies. Election success now means u have to back an aggressive US policy and anyone who does not agree is silenced or ridiculed . All this because the west simply does not want to let go of total world power. Its moronic stuff. Now we see the return of extremism, ignorance, propaganda, conspiracy theories and barbaric rejections of science, the first stage of a cold civil war division, and the embrace of fascism in the US ( sadly also increasingly in other countries in the west.) This is the script throughout history of an empire in its dying phases. We could instead try to lead with constructive , nuanced , impartial discussions and strategies but we are propelled by the extreme hawkish defence policies of the US. No one wins this time although China in its fear has managed to reach incredible growth with AI and other tech since the US cold war it would otherwise have taken many years to reach. Please feel free to get this deleted but do not assume everyone agrees with your perspectives on China many, including ex Prime Ministers, premiers, leading political historians and geopolitical academics, and ordinary people watch aghast . This has been my cathartic vent . No desire to engage any further on this . Pointless.

Where does that leave the Chinese decision to tear up many trade agreements with Australia without just cause - honest agreements that China broke simply because Australia wanted to investigate the causes of COVID. Every country in the world should have wanted an investigation into the worst pandemic in 100 years unless. of course, that country was responsible for the pandemic. Whatever any investigation has found, that action by the Chinese Government say it all!!!Another example is the recent Chinese attack on the Australian destroyer trying to fix its propeller. These actions show the true intent of China and it is lucky we have a matching superpower to keep them in check.
