In my opinion it would be good if you read a bit of history to what happened to coal, oil, iron/steel since they use started.

The more efficient the steam engines (less coal consumption per unit of power delivered by the machine ) the higher the coal consumption globally. As it was more affordable, smaller machines, lighter... so more applications were found, higher adoption ... resulting in higher consumption. Even after discovery of oil, and most importantly Diesel.

It's very important to understand how the ecosystem works... SSB even if it used less Li would growth the battery applications far outweighing the lower kg of Li used per kwh.

In fact since Li battery was invented, the kg of lithium per kwh stored has been decreasing , i.e adding Nickel increase battery voltage, hence more kwh for the same amount of lithium, and here we are trying to deliver 20-50 times de volume of lithium used early on....

I recommend a read of Energy and Civilization , and Grand Transitions by Vaclav Smil

    Have a nice weekend !
