Looking at that:
* average S&P 500 return is 10.26%
* 1.1026 to power 10 is 265% or a 165% return
* so an average company would make the top-20 mining list
As long as pick a top stock like PLS you'll do well, but even BHP has basically gone nowhere for 10 years.
For most investors it would be better to look at more profitable sectors.
