The National Intellectual Property Administration recently announced the patent application of CATL's sodium-ion batteries. The patents applied for include "Sodium-ion batteries, battery modules, battery packs, and electric devices", "Sodium-ion battery monomers and their preparation methods, related devices", "Sodium-ion battery cathode materials and their preparation methods, cathode sheets and batteries, and electric devices". It is reported that these patents may be applied to CATL's second-generation sodium-ion batteries. In November last year, CATL stated that they were developing a second-generation sodium battery with higher energy density and cycle life, but the specific release date has not been disclosed yet.
