Ethiopia has just banned petrol/diesel cars - immediately. From today-ish only BEV can be imported. Ethiopia has increased its grid capacity by 200% since 2008 and are now in a position to save circa $6 billion a year importing fossil fuels. No doubt that other countries with similar fossil fuel importation cost will be watching Ethiopia closely to see how it pans out.
