The problem is that EVs still have a massive carbon footprint. Not as big as petrol/diesel cars, but if you are motivated to stop the climate catastrophe, you should at least consider changing your lifestyle and not owning any car at all. Governments should put more money and effort into making it easier to live car-free. I haven't managed it yet, if there were footpaths, cycleways and more public transport it would be easier.
