Yeah. An anecdotal observation of air quality re big cities was my experience in the late 1970’s.

Being raised in a small country town in central western Queensland I wasn’t exposed to the big city pollution.

Then in the late 70’s we visited Brisbane for a holiday and to attend the ekka.

I could physically smell and taste the air quality. That night my throat was sore.

I could only put it down to spending the day In heavily polluted air, and my body not being used to it.

Btw pollution controls on vehicles at that time were practically nonexistent. Petrol and diesel engines were primitive to today’s technology and far less efficient.
