Pure EV is suitable for many. In the Australian sense you got to remember that at least 83% of the populous live in metropolitan areas and drive on average less than 50km a day. In saying that there are some caveats -
1. Yes not quite suitable for towing or 4WDs
2. Yes for long distance driving it's not great (but it's not terrible either)
3. Yes home charging is not possible for many (where most of the operational / cost saving benefits are)
So let's say from that 83% it goes down another 10 - 15% (so still 60% addressable market).
But for most people it can and does work. The other 3 points will be addressed in time.
