Except that my rant criticises the erosion of individualism in our algorithm-driven world. Also, I assert that if individuals have the facts they will make the sort of choices that I advocate. The reason people make bad choices is ignorance or deception. Your cold-war thinking is way out of date. Free market absolutists are out of favour now, post-truth and neo-despotism (e.g. MAGA) are the new paradigm, after a hostile takeover of the once market-orientated centre-right. Dutton and Joyce are down with it. Also, the public sector is no longer the creator of excessive waste, it's globalised consumerism and (most of) the "magnificent seven" and their ilk, ravaging both consumers and producers with enshittification created by their digital platforms.
