Without subsidies and looming government mandates that literally ban the sale of ICE cars, what do you think the EV sector would look like right now?
I don't think the sale of ICE vehicles will literally be banned. We have restrictions on the amount of lead that can be in petrol, but that's different from banning cars, you just have to make them less toxic. How the car makers do that is up to them. Same with the new emissions rules.
Also, the subsidies are the same as Chifley pumping masses of government assistance to get the first Holden factory started, he made that decision because he was in a position of power and influence. He strongly felt it was in the national interest.
