It may not be a deal breaker for many, just like it certainly is a deal breaker for many.
The 14 million who purchased an EV last year either are well off enough to have off street parking in a big home with a solar system. Hence convenience at a price.
Or, they just accept the added challenges that come with EV ownership and just don't care. Which is perfectly fine.
When it does become an actual "like for like comparison", that's when the real action starts.
