That article was pretty bad... published in a very low quality Murdoch paper (NY Post) talking about a study from 2022, and the reason it was dragged up again is that it was mentioned in an editorial in another Murdoch paper (Wall Street Journal). A media beat-up, it's just newspapers quoting each other. Why isn't there more information from 2023, 2024? The Murdoch press in the US completely has an agenda, and that article is full of misrepresentation because yes, it does seek to control the narrative.

Particulate pollution from tyres is bad whether it comes from an EV or an ICE car, and the heavier larger ICE cars favoured by the market at the moment are also making it worse. That study from 2022 was full of alarming information about this sort of pollution from ICE cars. One could argue that the rise of EVs has caused attention to be focused on this problem, which has been ignored in over a century of ICE domination. The article could also have mentioned that there are proposals to introduce pollution rules for tyres and brakes too. You can have a heavier car if you like, but you'll also have to have better tyres which don't grind off as much crap that people can breathe in.

What you say? More woke rules? CO2? Tyres? Plastic? Next thing it'll be lead and asbestos. It's political correctness gone mad!
