I am reminded of an old saying that "the quickest way for a business to go broke is to expand too quickly, or into an area it knows little or nothing about".
We already have Calix and Posco for downstream, while the P1000 expansion may take another 12 months to ramp up.
To me, that is a full book of work in progress, and with the depressed price of lithium and the consequent reduction in our profit I would prefer to spend any reserves "in house" on increased spodumene production.
Then again, I confess I am ultra-conservative and see Black Swans everywhere I look - who would have predicted the floods in Kalgoorlie? Imagine what similar rainfall would do to the brine evaporation ponds in the Atacama Desert.
