Its the periodic table, and its organised by way of atomic structure, ie the number of protons in the nucleus increments by 1 each time, and a corresponding electron also. In addition, the shell in which the electron orbits the nucleus is relevant in the way the table is organised. This has significant material property implications eg H, Li collumn elements are highly reactive.
