The reference to “lithium ion batteries,” as I assume @Acgm is using the term, usually refers to smaller batteries, as might be utilized with hand tools or gardening equipment. Their chemistry is usually referred to as “lithium polymer batteries,” because they utilize a polymer gel as the electrolyte. They also usually utilize lithium cobalt dioxide for the cathode.
They DO have a different chemistry than most EV batteries. Most EV batteries utilize either a Lithium/NCM chemistry or LFP.
BTW, for those who don’t know, NCM stands for Nickel, Cobalt and Manganese, and the specific chemistry is usually expressed as “NCM###,” such as NCM811. This represents the proportion of each metal. For example, NCM811 is 80% (eight parts) Nickel, 10% (one part) Cobalt and 10% (one part) Manganese.
