Kind of funny you reference Nullarbor crossing. Can’t recall their name here but a few years back there was a person from one of those roadhouses who back then did the numbers for installing a solar farm and batteries to replace their diesel burn. It may surprise some to know but apparently the real cost for running those places in terms of energy is not the diesel and petrol they truck in to sell, most of what fuel (diesel) they truck in they burn in their own generators to provide power in the roadhouse, refrigeration, air conditioning and service to passing motorists (particularly those who stay with them).
That person had worked out that it was economical to install the infrastructure back then and they were more than happy to then make a few charge stations available for passing motorists too.
I don’t know if they went ahead or if Covid issues mucked up those plans and more for them in the meantime.
But anyway - funny you mentioned that route.
Also a couple who drove their EV Perth to Sydney in recent months discussed their experience in a Facebook group. Short story - they didn’t have any real charging issues either.
So … I ask again, what do you need to tow, how far and how often???
