Good point. That's probably why there was so much resistance to cars. Governments paid people money to buy cars but despite that, Henry Ford, after trying valiantly for years to convince people that cars were better than horses, died a miserable failure. It was only many years later when both horses and hay were banned, first by the EU and then the rest of the world, that people were finally forced to start buying cars, no matter how much they hated them. That's how progress works.
