No such thing as a dumb question.
Buy / Sell market depth often isn't what it seems at first blush.
Firstly you should probably discount anything more than 5 to 10 cents from current price as this is largely noise.
Secondly many of the larger players will not have disclosed their buy/ sell intentions until they are ready pull the trigger. These never show until they swoop in and act.
And thirdly and possibly most sinisterly there are the large signaling bids / offers which are deliberately placed to con retail that the market is going one direction, but magically disappear if the share price approaches them.
In summary, you can't take the buy side / sell numbers at face value.
