Its no different to buying a new car and replacing it after 10 to 15 years, you have the choice to buy an ICEV or EV, same story, EV 70% efficient and ICEV 30% plus triple the maintenance costs for the later.

Who comes out in front over a 10 year period, hint, its a no brainer.

If CATL’s announcement of 1.5M km batteries and 15 year warranties is correct ( there isn’t any reason to doubt them, they are industry leaders), it is another nail in the coffin for FF. Likely those batteries will have a life span in excess of 20 years if a 15 year warranty is on offer. Apparently after 1000 cycles they show no degradation.

One of the road blocks for ESS was cost and life of battery. With cost per kWh now well below $1, mass residential & grid scale ESS will soon be soon be upon us.
