I agree, although I wonder how long "long-term" will be. The price of EVs has been falling faster than expected. It will be hard for traditional automakers to survive because they are late to the party. It's looking like they will have joint ventures with Chinese makers anyway, e.g. Ford is working with CATL. The post above about Honda setting up in Canada is promising. It is happening a bit late for them, they will spend a lot of money before they have a range of EVs for the buyers who are prepared to pay more for a non Chinese marque. It will be interesting to see what happens to Toyota.
