I bought my first hybrid a decade ago, I'm on my second one now, but it will be my last. I don't understand why they are so hyped at the moment, they are surely on the way out very soon. One of the advantages of a battery EV is the simplicity. A hybrid is MORE complex than a vanilla ICE. My working assumption is that this discussion will be all over in two years because BEVs will be perceived to be cheaper and better. They'll be the mainstream choice, whereas ICE will become niche. I'll be cracking piggy banks when the cars with the BYD Blade 2 battery hit the market.

I do actually really like my hybrid, the fuel economy is great with petrol so expensive, but the thing that makes it good is the electric bit.
