I dunno, I think there are two ways about it. What is "exciting" in a car is based on preconceptions, cultural norms, conformity, tribal allegiance, pleasurable childhood associations, learned behaviours. It's exciting if you believe it is. It's boorish and primitive and meatheaded if you believe that.
The South Park episode dates from 2006, two years before the first Tesla went into production. It's amusing that hybrids are now seen as the anti-woke alternative. How times change.
As far as the righteousness is concerned, my view is that EVs won't fix the climate problem, they make it worse at a somewhat slower rate than ICE cars. So they're an improvement, but for environmental do-goodery, the best car is no car. I haven't managed to do that yet because reasons. Maybe one day I'll find a way.
