Kids foraging for lithium ore in Africa is like collecting empty soft drink cans here. The big miners throw them a few morsels to keep the locals happy. They would rather use their own staff than communicate with and train unskilled African workers, in French. Your issue of the distance from mine to port is very valid though, tempered by secret belt-and-road initiatives.
