I don't disagree with @asb83 there is additional Lithium supply coming online (and apparently its tripled in the last few years) but it's from a very low base.
The supply is there but it appears that demand expectations for batteries were a bit short (or they were over-estimated especially for non China demand) and hence why we're in this pickle for now.
