No I don't think that's quite true. Large deposits sure, but not all survivors were operating high grade deposits. FMG do not operate deposits near the quality of BHP, Rio or Roy hill, however they were able to position themselves as a very cheap miner even while selling onto the 58 PLATTS. It was how they operated which got them through, not the deposit quality.
