Possibly the converters purchasing the low grade, artisanally extracted ore by exploited African workers, don't have processing plants capable (or money to upgrade plants) of dealing with the impurities contained within the garbage spod/Leshitolite/Petalite. Doesn't stop the narrative by Chinese reporting agencies, which keeps the price low. All for the common good of the CCP. Ganfeng amongst other Chinese listed entities, just have to suck it up, as do their shareholders.

As our previous esteemed leader of PLS states. China has successfully built out the right hand side of the cost curve to achieve cheaper Lithium. Problem is, it has been at a longer term cost. Many lower cost projects are now being delayed and these high cost, low quality sources are now setting the market up for another price spike as the garbage supply sources won't be capable of meeting the projected demand increases. So many in the industry are saying.

As we know and have experienced before, patience required, in spades.
