Hi Bandwagon. Those Chinese import figures tell a bit more when one considers what they have left out. The countries mentioned are Australia 380.000 tons ((68.9%), Nigeria 40,000 tons (7.3%), Zimbabwe 96,000 tons (17.5%), and Brazil 16,000 tons (2.9%). All approximate figures with a total of 549,000 tons. Except the individual figures add up to 532,000 tons. The percentages add up to 96.6%, and the missing 3.4% equals 16,666 tons, which accounts for the difference in total tons.
Not a lot in the overall scheme of things, but then I wondered why Chile with its brine in the Atacama Desert had been omitted. It sems to me highly possible that one of China's sources is not performing as well as in the past, perhaps due to the Chilean government taking over 50% of SQM, part owned by Tianqui.
