Did you notice the bit about “hybrids are becoming a mainstream option rather than an alternative to internal combustion engines”?
Have you considered what the demand curve looks like when all cars have some lithium battery component and “pure ICE” is the oddity?
I wonder how much fast acceleration to adopt cars with batteries included will be through expanding hybrid options (and cutting pure-ICE options)? Has that been taken into account by analysts predictions of future spod pricing?
I learnt recently from a company that buys from CATL that they have recently decided to “discontinue for the time being” supply of battery cells to any other than their large contracted OEM customers … wonder why they’d be focusing only on large customers are present, maybe due to their projections of the extent of production demand those OEMs are going to produce in the near future …
