Lithium has now become a political animal much like the fossil fuel industry - where there's fuel to run countries political power and money will always follow. That dynamic is playing out as we speak with China in a commanding position, the West horrified by a situation of their own making and desperate to catch up and overtake (catch up maybe, overtake doubtful).
in any case, when we see today's news (Bloomberg) that BYD has paused it's Mexico factory until after the US election it demonstrates the importance of the political wind.
That aside, until the politics rationalize and the picture for lithium clarifies (and it will in time with a favorable conclusion)... Even so, one should never discount the unknowns which may come into play to turn the tide - keeping in mind the correlation between lithium demand and extreme climatic events to spur on transport/battery storage revolution - that ungentle tap on the shoulder to reignite the urgency to kill off the fossil fuel industry. We so easily forget the correlation/enhanced causation of the recent Australian fires and the following lithium highs when/after all the Worlds media mastheads read: 'HALF OF AUSTRALIA IS ON FIRE.' Just one example of an unknown event coming into play. There will be others. Until then, we wait for the environmental pressures to grow/explode eek.png? - and political rationale to even the field.
