I did a bit of google, and I found that the average LCE content per kwh of battery, is 0.85Kg/kwh ( this will actually depends on the battery chemistry LFP, NCM,....)
I did find Nov. 2023 EV battery average size was 37kWh ( including PHEVs), lets assume now it's the same.
Then we need 31kg of LCE per EV, or 7x SC6 or 360kg SC6/EV.
1 ton of spodumene every 3 EVs (including PHEVs).
This is a moving target as PHEV / EV market share evolves , ICE/EVs share moves and battery chemistries evolve.
On the other hand every MWh of BESS requires roughly 6 tons of SC6. BESS is already 20% if not more of LCE consumption, and growing.
I think we have to pay more attention to the MWh of batteries deployed WW, to have the full picture as EVs numbers don't tell the whole story.
Enjoy your Sunday!
