The tide won't be turning around anytime soon. More spodumene currently coming out of Australia than ever before. Production is increasing, while the demand side of the equation has fallen short of expectations. Not a good scenario.
Sure expansion and greenfield projects may have been postponed by some, however, that doesn't negate the growth that's coming out of Africa. And those that argue that African spod isn't profitable forget to acknowledge that it doesn't need to be profitable. China owns the supply chain and is vertically integrated, so they can make up for the losses further up the chain. The achilles heel of Australian producers is that they don't own anything downstream, so if they don't make money digging stuff out of the ground, they have no other way to make up for it. They either run at a loss or stop producing. China has outsmarted the west.
